Body COSMETIC PROCEDURES
Body contouring procedures are an increasingly popular choice among Dr. Beber’s patients. Whether it’s liposculpting those stubborn areas that don’t disappear despite diet and exercise, or reshaping and flattening the entire abdomen as part of a tummy-tuck or full mommy-makeover, Dr. Beber can help you achieve the body transformation you are looking for.
The ‘mommy makeover’ in Toronto is a popular term used to describe procedures that aim to restore the abdomen and breasts to the way they were, and reverse the long-term effects that pregnancy can have on a woman’s body.
During pregnancy for women, skin on the abdomen will stretch to accommodate the growing baby. The skin will try to shrink back to its original size and position after the baby is born, however it is not always able to do so. In addition, the muscles of the abdomen may spread apart in the middle due to the pressure placed on them. This separation is called a “diastasis” although this does not create a functional problem it contributes to the loss of abdominal flatness after pregnancy.
Cosmetic surgery has come a long way and liposuction is the perfect example of this. Liposuction also known as lipoplasty, is a body contouring procedure that addresses troublesome and persistent body fat deposits that have not responded to diet and exercise. Liposuction is the top two cosmetic surgical procedure performed in the U.S. in 2015. This figure has grown 5 percent form 2014.
Areas that respond well to liposuction include: under the chin, the abdomen, the chest, the waist and love handles, the hips and thighs. The arms, back and knees can also be addressed with this technique.
Abdominoplasty, which is most commonly referred to as a ‘tummy tuck’ is one of the most sought after cosmetic surgery procedures by both men and women The tummy tuck procedure changes the appearance of the abdomen by removing the loose and over-stretched skin, tighten the underlying muscles and removing fat, so that you are left with a smoother, tighter and more youthful abdomen. It is no wonder that so many women and men opt for this surgery! In 2015, the tummy tuck surgery was one of the top five cosmetic surgical procedures performed in the U.S. This figure was up 9% from 2014. Although the incision for a tummy tuck is long, the incisions are made in the lower abdomen and around the edge of the belly button in order to help hide the scars.
Brachioplasty, more commonly known as an ‘arm lift’, involves the removal of excess fat and skin on the upper arm that is often referred to as a ‘bat wing’. The majority of men and women who opt for this surgery are those who have lost a lot of weight. These patients often find that while they have lost the fat in the upper arm, the loose skin stays behind. While our skin does have the ability to bounce back somewhat, it is not enough to tighten the skin on the arm as most would like.
