BREAST AUGMENTATION

For many women who are considering breast augmentation, breast size is an important part of feeling feminine, vital, confident, and healthy. Breast augmentation surgery is an exciting way to increase breast fullness, improve breast symmetry, and rejuvenate the appearance of your breasts. Dr. Beber is a recognized expert in the field of cosmetic breast surgery and, more specifically, for breast augmentation, as he is the co-director of the Toronto Breast Symposium, the largest conference devoted to plastic surgery of the breast in Canada. Dr. Beber has extensive experience with breast augmentation and all breast implant types, including the newest generation of cohesive gel silicone breast implants. His breast augmentation experience and bio dimensional approach allows Dr. Beber to work with you to completely customize your breast augmentation to suit your own personal aesthetic goals.

The breast lift procedure at our Toronto clinic will correct the sagging of the breast tissue and reposition the nipple back up to the original position onto the front of the breast. This procedure will remove excessive skin to reshape and give new contour to the breast. The areola can be reduced if it has been enlarged. The breast lift procedure will not add volume to the upper part of the breast or change the size.  Commonly, Dr. Beber’s patients choose to have a combination of both the breast lift procedure with the breast augmentation (breast implants) or the breast reduction procedure to get the tailored breast volume desired. Additionally, a breast lift surgery can be combined with a tummy tuck procedure (abdominoplasty) to achieve a more enhanced contouring result, commonly called the Mommy Makeover procedure.

A good candidate for breast lift surgery is someone who is concerned with the loss of volume and shape of their breasts, has breasts that are elongated or pendulous and flat, has nipples that fall below the breast crease and areolas that are pointed downwards and / or enlarged.

When considering surgery, as with all surgeries, you should be in good health, not smoke and have realistic expectations.

During your consultation for the breast lift surgery in Toronto,Ontraio, Dr. Beber will evaluate your general health, review the risks associated with this procedure and associated risks based on your pre-existing health conditions. Dr. Beber will examine your breasts and make detailed measurements of the shape and size, position of your nipples and areolas including your skin quality. Photographs will be taken at this time for your medical record. All patients booked for surgery will have a pre-operative assessment with Dr. Beber approximately 4-6 weeks before surgery. At this appointment, patients having breast lift surgery will have the opportunity to review the procedure with Dr. Beber. Pre-operative instructions will be reviewed and all your questions will be answered at that time. Avoid taking aspirin, anti-inflammatory medications and herbals supplements that could thin your blood and increase bleeding at least weeks before surgery.

Silicone Implants

‘Gummy Bear’ or Silicone Implants, are the most popular option. Silicone implants are made of a silicone elastomer shell, and come filled with silicone gel. Silicone Implants

Recently introduced to Canada, this implant option, has the feel of silicone but contains saline instead. This option works best for patients who prefer to avoid silicone but still prefer its natural feel. It is FDA and Health Canada approved.

Differences of Saline vs. Silicone Implants

Silicone

  • More soft and natural feel
  • Lower risk of rippling
  • Longer incision
  • Costs slightly more

Saline

  • Ability to fill each breast with slightly different amounts to accommodate differences in volume
  • Smaller incision
  • High risk of rippling
  • Allows for axillary (armpit) incision, which leaves no scar on the breast
  • Cost slightly less

Minimal Scarring

During your one-on-one consultation, you will be guided through the different types of breast augmentation incision locations. You can choose to receive an incision in the crease just under your breast (inframammary), around the edge of the areola (periareolar), or in the armpit (transaxillary). Together, you will review and decide which location works best for you.

Should the Implant Be Placed Over or Under the Muscle?

The ideal pocket position for you will depend on several important factors, including your current breast size, breast shape, and breast position.
